Raavan, Vilon or Ravan is a purely Maniratnam's ramayanam. In this ramayanam Rama is a police officer and his wife is seeta. A dreaded criminal is Raavana. Raavan has quite lot of similarities between Dalapathi acted by Rajanikanth and Mummutty. Both the movies are based on Our ancient scriptures only. In Raavan, Maniratnam tried to give a Dravidian touch to Ramayan in this film. In Tamilnadu especially in Dravidian Culture, Raavan is treated as a Hero. Coming back to movie, the performance of all the artists are good and locations selected is awesome with wonderful photography. But due to slow face of story running, it is felt that Maniratnam's magic has not been seen in the movie.
